The Gene-ius Day STEM Summer Program at the University of Hawaii at Manoa is an innovative enrichment program for talented middle school students.  Registration for the summer program is completed through individual schools.  Since 2016, we have brought 1,000 students to the University of Hawaii, Manoa to participate in the science education program. Schools we have worked with include Dole Middle, Kalakaua Middle, Jarrett Middle, Washington Middle, Central Middle and Waipahu Intermediate School. For summer 2022, we are able to increase the number of schools we work with to include Wahiawa Intermediate, Nankuli Intermediate, Waianae Intermediate, Olomana, Kahuku Intermediate, King Intermediate, and Waimanalo Intermediate.

The goal of the Gene-ius Day STEM Summer Program is to increase the interest of Hawaii’s middle school students in science-related fields by making science and learning fun! Each summer students from Oahu’s public schools attend a weeklong STEM education program to engage in hands-on science activities that range from investigating a murder mystery to infecting bacteria cells in the lab.

We would like to send out a special thank you to GEAR UP Hawaii and the Central Pacific Bank Foundation for sponsoring the GENE-ius Day Summer Program!
